Topic: L-Theanine tolerance

I was hoping someone could tell me if it is possible to build a tolerance to L-Theanine. I am liking the help that it has given me with my anxiety but I do not want to dampen the effects of it by overuse. I have been taking the Source Naturals Theanine Serene formula and bought some bulk L-Theanine powder to supplement it since I have read that you can't really take too much L-Theanine, but the supplement contains magnesium which I have read can cause some bowel problems if you take too much. Thank you for any insight you can provide.

Thanks for getting in touch.
First, I can give you this bit of data:
In 2006 a study found no consistent, statistically significant treatment-related adverse effects on behavior, morbidity, mortality, body weight, food consumption and efficiency, clinical chemistry, hematology, or urinalysis in rats fed high doses of theanine for 13 weeks. Large studies in humans are missing.
With magnesium there may be side effects such as chronic diarrhea.
This is what I suggest; Drink infusions of Meadowsweet tea, adding 10 drops of extract of Passionflower and 5 drops extract of St. John's Wort. Sweeten with a bit of honey and drink 3xs day.
Other herbs that may be of help are: Kava Kava and Lemon balm.
Hope this helps.
Good luck! H.
